Meditate About Your Longevity

New research suggests that Transcendental Meditation (TM) may slow biological aging and boost resilience, offering a powerful tool for longevity seekers. The study comes from Maharishi International University, which explored how long-term TM practice impacts aging at the molecular level.Researchers found that older TM practitioners exhibited lower expression of age-related genes and reduced cortisol levels, indicating a more balanced stress response.Cortisol, often linked to stress and age-related health issues, was notably lower in meditators compared to non-meditators, suggesting TM fosters greater resilience.  The study also used EEG scans to measure brain function, revealing that TM practitioners had faster cognitive processing speeds, resembling those of younger adults. This supports earlier findings that meditation enhances mental well-being and reduces cardiovascular risk.Senior researcher Kenneth Walton noted, ā€œThe lower expression of age-related genes and lower hair cortisol in the TM groups extend the findings of short-term studies indicating these practices lead to healthy aging.ā€ While more research is needed to uncover the exact mechanisms, these findings highlight TM’s potential to improve quality of life by slowing cellular aging.Imagine adding years to your healthspan with just a (free) daily meditation practice! See ya,
