Reaching For Deep Relaxation

According to Dr. Andrew Huberman, our bodies need the restorative benefits of sleep, which is the best brain booster, stress reliever, trauma reliever, immune booster, hormone augmenter, and emotional stabilizer.Still, as much as we need sleep, sometimes our minds race at night, making it difficult to rest.Other times, in the middle of the day, we just find ourselves dragging…While our reflex in those moments might be to stop at the coffee pot and ā€œpush through,ā€ Dr. Huberman has another idea.Take a rest… specifically, a Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR).Posted originally in our Glossary, click here to explore the health benefits of NSDR, the underlying protocols, and the NSDR apps that you can try today.

Last April, Retro Biosciences

an impressive

$180 million

with a bold mission to extend healthy human lifespan by a decade.

However, the source of this substantial investment remained shrouded in mystery until recently.

According to a recent MIT Technology Review

, the entire sum was contributed by Sam Altman, the 37-year-old startup guru and CEO of OpenAI. This massive investment by Altman, which is one of the largest ever made by an individual into a startup pursuing human longevity, highlights the importance and potential of this field.

Interestingly, this is not the only instance of Altman’s involvement in longevity startups. As revealed in a previous MIT Technology Review

, he has also invested

$250,000

in

, a biohacking startup that is studying gene therapies aimed at tackling a variety of conditions, including muscular disorders, HIV, low testosterone, and obesity.

Clearly, Altman’s interest and investment in these areas demonstrate his belief in the potential of emerging technologies to enhance human life and push the boundaries of what is currently possible.
