A Harvard study was conducted over an 80 year period, starting in 1938, tracking the health of graduates.The intention behind the study was to determine what contributed to healthy and happy lives over the course of decades, and the researchers were startled with their discoveries. “The surprising finding is that our relationships and how happy we are in our relationships has a powerful influence on our health,” said Robert Waldinger, a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.“Taking care of your body is important, but tending to your relationships is a form of self-care too. That, I think, is the revelation."Sebastian Junger also talked about the importance of community in his book Tribe.   • SiPhox Health, a company building next-generation diagnostics infrastructure both for the home and the central lab, announced the closing of their $27 million Series A funding round. Led by Intel Capital, other investors included Khosla Ventures, Kortex Ventures, Alumni Ventures, Metaplanet, Shorewind Capital, LongeVC, Overlap Holdings and Duke Capital Partners. Funding will go towards getting the SiPhox Home product through U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance in the next year. The platform will offer proteins and hormone tests from a finger-prick blood sample, with results in five minutes or less. The company is gearing up to do a case study on this with thousands of people.
