Cheers... Here's to having fun, while we live long...

Wait, Drinking is Good for Longevity?

Ever read about those stories of people who smoke and drink everyday, and then live to over 100?Do a simple search and you'll find dozens of articles about people who credit drinking and smoking to their longevity. I'm serious:

To be clear, I'm not endorsing drinking or smoking. In fact we've written extensively about how alcohol has many negative effects on the body. But what about all of those long-lived drinkers? Are they just the lucky few?Well, it turns out that there could be more to the habit of drinking alcohol...In a new study published in The Gerontologist, researchers found that couples who drink together live longer than those who don't. The study suggested that sharing alcohol with a mate resulted in less conflict and a longer marriage, leading to a longer life. These findings correlate to similar studies that point to friendships leading to more longevity. This is a topic that we've also written about in the past:ā€œThe surprising finding is that our relationships and how happy we are in our relationships has a powerful influence on our health... Taking care of your body is important, but tending to your relationships is a form of self-care too." -Find Your TribeLast year, the US Surgeon General also put out a similar statement:"Loneliness is far more than just a bad feeling—it harms both individual and societal health. It is associated with a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia, stroke, depression, anxiety, and premature death. The mortality impact of being socially disconnected is similar to that caused by smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day, and even greater than that associated with obesity and physical inactivity."So, should we all be drinking with friends and family?I don't know if I'd go that far... but if a little booze will help you relax and connect with others, maybe the downsides aren't all the bad. Everything in moderation, right? To your health,CodyFounder, SpannrP.S.: Check out some interesting non-alcoholic drinks from our friends at The Zero Proof
